My oldest daughter Brittni was such an amazing toddler! She obeyed and hardly ever got in trouble. If I told her not to touch something she didn't touch it... That is why I chose to get her ears pierced at 1 year old.. And she did fantastic and didn't bother her ears.
My other daughter, London however is just plain insane! She loves to be silly, doesn't listen well and should pursue a career in being a persuader. I knew she would not be getting her ears pierced based off her personality. She begged for them since she was about 2 years old and I just couldn't do it. I wasn't ready to deal with it.
Finally November of 2014 I decided she was ready and So was I. Why did I have to be ready? Because I knew she was going to touch them non-stop which would lead to infection.
After she picked out her favorite earring and the job was done, we were sent home with a small spray bottle with sea salt in it. I was directed to fill it full of water and spray it on the ears to keep them clean I think 3 times a day.
Sorry for poor picture quality. Was the only picture I have.
Did I do it???? NOPE! I kept forgetting.
Everything went fine but she kept touching her ears with her germ laced hands. I decided to try this Thieves Spray my mom had bought me from Young Living.
Day 1 - First I give it a little squeeze to get the puss out and wiped it clean, she is not a happy camper for this step. I sprayed the Thieves Spray behind the earring and worked it through the hole and did the same for the back as well. This is only like 1 good spray to front and one good spray to the back. She has never complained of it burning before but this time she did and I'm not sure if she was just being dramatic ( like she is 89% of the time) or if it really hurt. I blew on it and she instantly walked away like she was never in pain (SUSPICIOUS)!
A couple hours later I gave it a little squeeze again a very small amount of puss came out and I sprayed it again, just like before.
Then repeated again at bedtime, which she again said it hurt and I blew on it and she was fine.
You can see the infection around the earring, but the picture does not show how swollen it is.
Day 2 - Well there is nothing to do for day 2, because ITS HEALED!!! Swelling, redness, & pain is gone!
And now I just wait for her to play with it again!
